Each DDEC generation uses different electronics, so each needs the matching bench harness. DDEC 2, 3, and 4 use a single ECM (Series 60 12.7L). DDEC 5 uses its own ECM. DDEC 6 uses the MCM, ACM, and CPC. DDEC 13 and DDEC 15 (DD13 and DD15) use the MCM, ACM, and CPC2+ or CPC4. We offer a separate bench harness for each generation — choose the one that matches your engine, or contact us if you are not sure.

A bench harness is useful when a Detroit engine shows signs of a module issue: a crank-but-no-start condition, no communication with your scan tool, engine protection or shutdown codes, intermittent shutdowns, or hard starting. Connecting the module on the bench lets you power it up, verify communication, and test it off the truck to confirm whether the module itself is the problem before reinstalling it.
