What is a base bench harness?

A base bench harness is the central wiring adapter used to power and test engine control modules (ECMs) outside of the truck, on a workbench. This plug-and-play harness connects to the diagnostic port and provides 12V power to run the system, replicating the truck's real-world connections so you can power up, program, and diagnose a module without the engine present. It works with diagnostic software such as JPRO, Calterm, INSITE, and Davie.

How does the base bench harness work with ECM jumpers?

The base bench harness is the foundation of the system — you buy it once. It connects to the diagnostic port on one end, and the ECM jumper harness for your specific engine connects the base to the ECM on the other. One base harness works with every ECM jumper (Cummins, Detroit, Paccar and more), so you only add the jumper that matches the ECM you are testing.

What can I do with a bench harness setup?
